The Vision – The Broadsheet Version.
That Lostwithiel is to become a community transformed by the love and power of God, where it is known that Jesus Christ is central, and is honoured and glorified. This will have an impact not only on the town, but the surrounding area, Cornwall, the nation, and other parts of the world.
The River Church is a fellowship of God’s people committed to obediently and sacrificially, serve Christ, one another, and our local community as His representatives, and in the power of the Holy Spirit to see this transformation come about. To be living for Jesus in every aspect of our lives.
Based on strong relationships, the aim is to grow to a fellowship of 300 committed adult disciples of Jesus, and at least 100 children and youth. In a variety of cell / small groups (at least 15) where there is a greater sense of committed family relationships, and witness, and in coming together as one body for joint worship, ministry, and inspirational teaching.
Some of these small groups will become church plants from the parent church and grow their own identity over time.
The River Church will be a healing community reflecting the grace of God, but recognising the times, will be uncompromising with the truth and uniqueness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A place of retreat is seen as part of this vision.
Because our vision is to serve and impact the local community beginning in Lostwithiel, the use of or ownership of a suitable ‘ministry’ building will become important as a facilitator of furthering the vision. This may be a ‘family centre’ or similar, but we are not concerned particularly with the details, as this is not primarily about buildings – God will provide all that is needed to fulfil the vision, as we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness.
